Nicely, this is unexpected: Lamborghini has announced on its Facebook page that it will debut . . . something at the Paris auto show next week. We suspect that anything is a automobile, based on the teaser sketch accompanying the Italian automaker’s Parisian declaration, and that that vehicle is one thing completely fresh from Lamborghini.
Look closely at the black-and-white photo above—does that side window look a bit . . . lengthy? Lamborghini’s 2 existing models, the Huracán and the Aventador, both feature stunted side glass typical of 2-seat, mid-engine sports automobiles. Furthermore, Lamborghini has hinted that this car, which trademark filings indicate could be named Asterion, could seat much more than 2. A nebulous statement on an invitation to the vehicle’s reveal in Paris reads: “Once perfection is accomplished, you can just double it.”
A 1960s-era Lamborghini 400GT (a 2-plus-2) also pictured in the magazine spread lends credence to the concept that Lamborghini could be cooking up a new sports auto with a back seat. Watch for our coverage of Lambo’s large announcement subsequent week to see what’s in store—our interest is undoubtedly piqued.
