Cramming a war-surplus, 12-cylinder PT boat engine into an Bentley 8 Litre chassis may not look like the most sensible program, but watching this thing shake and roar itself awake will hammer some sense back into you—with the force of pistons that occupy 3.5-liter cylinders. Allegedly owned by Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, this Packard-Bentley is identified as “Mavis,” and it’s suitably antisocial to be owned by that distinguished gentleman.

Nevertheless, it is Chris Williams who should get credit for the construction of Mavis. Whilst its constituent parts are vintage, the build isn’t as old as it appears. It was truly constructed in 2010, according to The Telegraph in a very entertaining road test (that sadly lends no credence to the Lemmy connection). The monster is supercharged, and the 24 exhaust outlets are courtesy of a dual-exhaust port design. Williams thinks it makes 1500 horsepower, but perhaps the most staggering number is in regards to fuel consumption: 4 gallons per minute at speed.

Of course, it goes like hell, but stopping and turning are yet another matter. Who cares? Just listen to it light off. What a beast.

AMG Brings a Car to the Boat Show With GT S and Matching Cigarette

Mercedes-AMG this week reprised its slightly strange tradition of showing off customized land-primarily based automobiles at the Miami International Boat Show, parking a garishly black-and-yellow GT S sport coupe in front of a matching Cigarette speedboat. No, you can not tow the boat with the Benz. Quit asking.

In the wake (hah! That’s a boating joke, kid) of final year’s Benz-and-matching-boat duo, and 2013’s nuclear-glow-in-the-dark combo, Mercedes asked Cigarette Racing to generate the most outrageously apt sea-faring pairing to go with the twin-turbo, 503-hp sportster.  And this boat ain’t blowing smoke.

And it’s not like these sixteen pistons have to contend with a lot of dead weight: Cigarette says it sliced almost 1000 lbs from the boat’s dry weight, giving the 50-foot torpedo a claimed leading speed of more than 135 mph.

The bodacious boat’s specs make the Mercedes-AMG GT S’s achievements seem like a drop in the bucket: The coupe only has one engine, for Pete’s sake, although it does hurdle to a terminal velocity of 193 mph. It also comes in at a rather reasonable $ 130,000—reasonable, at least, compared to the $ 1.2 million value tag for the one-off Cigarette.

As for towing the 13,200-pound boat? For that you’re gonna need to have a truck.
