Report: Chrysler Pentastar V-6 Engines to Get Direct Injection, Turbocharging

According to a report in Automotive News, Chrysler is preparing to adopt direct injection and turbocharging in an effort to improve fuel economy and enhance the output of its Pentastar V-6 family of engines. Referred to as the Pentastar Upgrade—or PUG for short—the revised engines are element of the maker’s strategy for meeting tightening CAFE requirements.

According to the AN‘s source, the initial engine to benefit from the program will be Chrysler’s ubiquitous 3.6-liter V-6, the updated version of which is slated to debut in late 2015 as element of a mild refresh of the Grand Cherokee.
