A collaborative effort between Mount Road Flying Squad and Port Elizabeth 10111 call centre, led to the arrest of 2 suspects aged between 23 and 28 and recovery of a vehicle that was hijacked in Kwanabuhle in Uitenhage on 12 March 2015.
This morning, at about 07:30 Mount Road Sector Manager received information about a suspicious vehicle driving around Newton Park. This information was given to a Mount Road SAPS Flying squad vehicle that was on patrol, which then followed up.
The 2 Flying squad members were still patrolling when they noticed a silver Polo at C/O 4th Avenue and Cape Road, Newton Park fitting the description of the vehicle that was reported as ‘suspicious’ in Newton Park with 2 occupants inside. The members verified the registration on radio control and discovered that the number plates were false. They instructed the vehicle to pull over in order to further investigate. When they verified the registration number on the license disk, the vehicle was positively linked to a vehicle that was reported as hijacked from KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage.
The 2 suspects were arrested and charged for possession of suspected hijacked vehicle and theft. They will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 7 April 2015. The confiscated vehicle will be returned to its lawful owner.
Mount Road Cluster Commander, Major General Daniel Rabie commended the 2 officers for the arrest. “Your prompt response and team work have yielded the desired results, continue to work hard so that our people can have a peaceful and crime free Easter. We have pledged to clamp down on crime, protect the public including their property and this success is an indication that our members have heeded to the call,” said Major General Dawie Rabie.
The lifted and recently facelifted 4-door Mini—the Countryman—comes to Geneva in slightly zooty “Park Lane” attire. Named after a street just east of London’s Hyde Park, the moniker evokes expensive hotels and residences. But rather than charge you a few hundred pounds per night to keep in it, the Park Lane is set apart from lesser Countryman models by its unique aesthetic remedy.
Outdoors, “Earl Grey” paint—a shade of gray that bears no similarity with the dark brown of Earl Grey tea—is contrasted by a darkish Oak Red on the roof, mirror caps, fender garnishes, and front-fender-mounted Park Lane emblems. Vinyl Oak Red roof, hatch, and hood stripes are available, whilst the 18-inch wheels are painted Dark Grey. An extra helping of silver trim is also integrated for the front and rear ends and rocker panels.
Inside, the Countryman Park Lane—there were also 1987 and 2005 Park Lane Minis—comes with exclusive accents in Oxide Silver and a third gray, this a single called Cross Stripe Grey on account of the thin black lines running by means of it. Park Lane badging is added to the doorsills and the passenger-side dashboard.
The Countryman Park Lane will come to marketplace globally, which includes the U.S., by this summer, and the package can be added to front-wheel-drive Coopers and front- or ALL4 all-wheel-drive Cooper S models. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but let’s hope it doesn’t match the “Park Lane” pretensions.
We were just at New Jersey Motorsports Park a couple of months ago, and we liked it so considerably that we’re back again. Yes, it’s the 2014 There Goes the Neighborhood 24 Hours of LeMons, featuring 132 in-your-face, dive-bombing, engine-obliterating East Coast teams! Let’s check out what the justices of the LeMons Supreme Court (I’m taking this race off, so the judges this time are Matt Adair, Matt Yip, and Tom Newman, all veterans of the LeMons Supreme Court bench) saw for the duration of Friday’s car inspections. Team themes based on Tv shows and films abounded. Right here are the members of Group Game of Crumplezones, with their Acura Integra. Group Make It Quickly, I’m In a Hurry might be about the 87th LeMons team to do a Smokey and the Bandit theme. Reproductions of the “Screaming Chicken” Trans Am hood decals have turn out to be so low cost that we may start requiring them on all LeMons cars. We also had our 87th Back To the Future “DeLorean” team, in this case a Nissan 300ZX run by TK Autosports (not to be confused with the 300ZX “DeLorean” that won the Chicago race a couple weeks back). Sadly, a single of the drivers hit a wall in the course of Friday practice and the vehicle looks like it may possibly be accomplished for the weekend. Team 4 On the Floor converted their Honda Civic into a Flintstones auto. And, of course, Speedycop and the Gang of Outlaws are back, this time with an extremely accurate replica of the Ford Explorers in Jurassic Park. They picked up the Explorer with a cage already installed, thanks to the people at Grassroots Motorsports, and they’ll be the first team to race this variety of automobile in the 24 Hours of LeMons. The Outlaws also brought their Toyota MR2 and some Jurassic-y costumes. This Integra team calls themselves The Science Project, and their vehicle came by means of inspections with an active volcano on its roof. When a group brings a vehicle that both exceeds the official $ 500 price range requirement by an absurd amount and in fact has some chance of becoming somewhat swift on the race track, the LeMons Supreme Court feels compelled to dish out some penalty laps. Most of the time, a lap penalty in the 50-to-100 range guarantees that the price range-busting team will not run away with the race… but at times the numbers get higher. In truth, at times they get a lot greater, normally when the group decides that they’d rather have the glory of becoming punished massive. In this case, the 2004 Mazda RX-8 of the Wankel Wankers Rotary Club got a record-breaking 4 billion penalty laps, one particular for every year of the earth’s age. This tops the preceding record of 2,000,000,007 laps earned by Group Sensory Assault’s RX-7 at the 2014 North Dallas Hooptie and the 500,000 laps dumped on the Fukushima Debris RX-7 Does the LeMons Supreme Court feel that rotary Mazdas are more suspicious than piston-engined cars? Could be! Some teams respect the racing tradition of cheating so much that they honor it with their group themes. For example, this Lance Armstrong/Smokey Yunick vehicle. Some really enthusiastic spectators built this London Bus out of what appears to be a golf cart. Meanwhile, due to the fact it is New Jersey, several teams ruined their vehicles during practice and will be spending the evening in a wrench-spinning frenzy. Here’s California racer, Spank, helping 3 Pedal Mafia put but another GM V6 in their soul-crushingly unreliable Triumph TR-7. Yes, they’ll be up all evening, but most of the vehicles will be ready to go on Saturday morning. Be sure to verify in later to see what occurs!
