Here in the UK we had the Scania Golden Griffin, but more than in the Benelux countries they have just launched right now, their own specific edition……Silver Griffin. In my opinion it looks much better and appears to have more thought place into it than it’s British cousin. Only 100 trucks obtainable so if you want 1 you far better get your passport out!
So right here it is people, the very truck that everyone’s man of the moment refurbished and rebuilt back to new condition is OFFICIALLY for sale. There have been a few rumours floating about on various social media, so lets put those all to bed and say that yes it is for sale. The Grimsby Gangster a.k.a. Mick Moody has confirmed that he is prepared to sell his pride and joy….of course for the proper money. The truck itself is a genuine left hand drive Scania 143 500 Topline Streamline new on the road in Switzerland in September 1996.
There is a fair quantity of pedigree now attached to this truck as it was rebuilt by the a single and only, bike racing, mad-haired, Spitfire creating, all-round good bloke, new Fred Dibner, truck mechanic extraordinaire Mr Guy Martin. This has been properly documented by every person and there is even a video of Guy and the truck obtainable to watch by clicking on the YouTube video below. We now know that Guy’s mechanical engineering expertise are no longer just great enough to be a race motorbike builder or an amazing truck mechanic but he is also an accomplished Spitfire builder as well. I have in no way seen the truck in individual but for me, with the truth that Guy has rebuilt it, I can only imagine that it has been offered his usual complete and utter interest and laid back professionalism…..I would consider that if you ask nicely when you pick it up from Grimsby you may even be able to get Mr Martin’s autograph someplace on the truck.
The truck is like new and there really are only a couple of trucks out there that have been refurbished back to a new condition. The primary cause getting the expense. Expense has not been considerably of a priority with this one as it was much more important just to get it correct and make it as it ought to be. The full spec of the truck is as follows

Not a lot to say about this a single genuinely, apart from you won’t see a cleaner tanker on the road any exactly where, truth. Just appear at the chassis photo, not a single spec of dirt or dust any exactly where, just remarkable. I always have a soft spot for a shiny mirror finish tanker and for what ever purpose I think they only ever boost what ever truck is on the front finish, so shiny tanker plus beautiful red Scania = Show Stopper.

By driving with 2 full-length trailers, Scania reduces fuel consumption by up to 30 percent with an equivalent reduction in dangerous carbon dioxide emissions. Following Scania’s request, the Swedish Transport Agency has now granted permission to operate rigs of 31.5 metres in total length between Södertälje and Helsingborg in Sweden.
Scania Transport Laboratory has been conducting study activities on the road for the past 6 years by transporting the company’s own components beneath realistic operating situations in between Scania’s production units in Södertälje, Sweden and Zwolle in the Netherlands. The Transport Laboratory has already been able to demonstrate a halving of CO2emissions per tonne-kilometre from 2008 to 2012, thanks to skilful drivers, optimised vehicles and lower typical speed. Another step is now being taken to show how heavy autos through new methods of considering can drastically minimize climate emissions to 20 grams per tonne-kilometre. The special truck will be produced in 200 numbered units in Södertälje as a tribute to the original Scania Streamline introduced back in 1991 – the 1st, actually aerodynamic cab in the heavy truck business.
“With the re-introduction of Scania Streamline last year, we got a lot of optimistic feedback from consumers who had been driving the original 3-series Scania Streamline back in the day”, says Kristoffer Nyberg, Item Manager Long-haulage at Scania Trucks. “Many especially recalled the striking appearance of the light blue truck with pink and purple striping. When we decided to honour that icon with a limited edition model of the new Scania Streamline, we of course wanted to involve Svempa considering that there is no greater man for the job. The restricted edition Blue Stream is characterised by a exclusive metallic exterior, striping and interior information and is created by Scania’s normal production program, which permits fantastic flexibility.“
“We had been thrilled to get this assignment,” says Jan Richter, head designer at Svempas. “We were of course tempted to use the original infant blue colour, but, even although iconic, we wanted something that reflects 2014, and ended up with a more vibrant blue metallic colour that alterations tone depending on viewing angle and light circumstances.”
The heritage from the old Streamline is apparent in the striping, but when once again more up-to-date, created to improve the class-top aerodynamics of the truck.
