Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know we’re in no way going to get the wicked-cool Volkswagen Amarok compact pickup right here, at least not any time soon. But that won’t cease us from wanting it—or writing about it. So behold the Amarok Ultimate, a new range-topping model that follows a formula well-known amongst American truck-makers: Add luxury—and add cost.
The Amorok Ultimate stakes out a higher level of poshness over plebian Amaroks with regular bi-xenon headlamps, a special LED running lamp style, silver door mirror caps, and darkened taillights. The polished 19-inch “Aragonit” wheels, silver skid plate, and chrome side actions add much more flash, although we could do with no the tacky reduced physique decals.
The Ultimate is primarily based on the Amarok Highline model, so it already comes effectively-equipped, but VW adds a ton of extra gear to that strong base. A backup camera, energy-folding and heated door mirrors, an alarm method, heated front seats, and navigation are all part of the deal. A handful of things are unique to the Ultimate, including reduce-pile floor mats and faux suede seat upholstery. The truck is available only in Candy White, Organic Grey, Reflex Silver, Starlight Blue, Toffee Brown, and Deep Black.
Want 1? Nicely while you pack your bags for your move to Europe, don’t forget to bring €41,376.30—or about $ 56K at existing exchange rates. If you want one here, you will have to wait a few a lot more years at least whilst VW makes a decision about providing a pickup right here in the U.S. (Preserve in thoughts that, if VW gives a truck right here at all, it might not be the Amarok.) For now, this “Luxo-rok” shows that Volkswagen certainly has a finger on the pulse of what tends to make truck-buying Americans tick. Well, aside from size, of course.
