Two appear in Mmabatho court over possession of stolen vehicles

North West – Susanna Degenaar(40) and Nikolaaas Gouws(30) are expected to appear in Mmabatho Regional Court on 25 May 2015 for possession of suspected stolen goods (cars). The accused were arrested over the Easter weekend by Vryburg K9 Unit in a village in Louwna, outside Vryburg.

This was after the members got information about selling of suspected stolen cars in Louwna. They went to the village where they found 3 vehicles, and circulated one of them. It was found that the car was reported hijacked in Gauteng.

The other 2 cars were also circulated and it was discovered that they were hijacked in Pretoria towards the end of March, and that in one incident, the owner was killed. The members continued with their investigation and it led them to the recovery of 6 more vehicles in Ganyesa, Coetzerssdam and Morokweng.

The accused have already appeared in court twice. In the first appearance on 7 April 2015 Susanna was granted R2500,00 bail while Nikolaas Gouws was granted R2000,00 bail yesterday when they appeared again.

Two to appear in Randburg court facing the charges of being in possession of car breaking implements.

2 suspects aged between 37 and 39 years will appear in the Randburg magistrates’ court facing the charges of being in possession of car breaking implements.

On Wednesday, 28 May 2014 at approximately 07h05, the police received a tip off about the suspects waiting to strike any unsuspecting motorist who locked their vehicles using remote controls without testing their doors before leaving for their daily activities at Ferndale, Randburg CBD.

The police acted immediately on the tip off and arrested 2 suspects who were found in possession of gate remote controls, a jamming machine plugged into the cigarette lighter, different number plates and other equipment. Investigations continue to determine if the suspects are connected to other crimes around the area.
