Just a week following Saleen released information and photos of its upcoming Mustang-based S302 mega pony automobile, Hennessey Overall performance has dropped into our laps renderings and details on its sinister HPE700 Mustang. (Coincidence? We believe not.) And as usual with a Hennessey item, it is definitely drunk on energy.

How significantly energy? Thanks to a Roots supercharger—Hennessey’s anabolic steroid of choice—as properly as upgrades to the throttle physique, fuel injectors, fuel pump, and exhaust system, Hennessey claims to wring 717 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 632 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm from the 2015 Ford Mustang‘s Coyote V-8. This enables the auto to hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and pass the quarter-mile mark in 11.2 seconds at 131 mph, by Hennessey’s measurements. Saleen’s S302, for what it’s worth, comes in with a maximum of 640 hp and 565 lb-ft of torque in supercharged kind. Ah, let the new Mustang tuner wars start!

The HPE700’s exterior gets the requisite smattering of badges and can be upgraded with a full raft of carbon-fiber addenda, which includes a lip spoiler, side sills, and a traylike splitter that juts out many inches from the chin and most likely tends to make even the gentlest driveway slope a challenging negotiation. Hennessey also delivers to stuff the wheel wells with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 2 rubber wrapped around 20-inch Hennessey H10 wheels, and a Brembo brake package is accessible. Suspension upgrades are below improvement and “may incorporate a trip to the ’Ring at some point,” according to company founder and president John Hennessey.

Other than the addition of some custom floor mats and a dash plaque, the HPE700 Stang appears to go light on the interior upgrades. That’s just fine by us, given that the standard Mustang GT interior is fairly nice out of the box. Hennessey is asking $ 59,500 for the HPE700—which involves a base Mustang GT and a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. The price tag rises with any of the aforementioned upgrades. The very first examples are expected to make it into customer hands during the second quarter of 2015. Hennessey says it plans to create only 500 copies—mixed amongst coupe and convertible models, per customer request—for the 2015 Mustang model year.
