An unlicensed commercial entity has been ordered by Minnesota commerce regulators to spend $ 191,185 in civil penalties for making several fraudulent and unlicensed auto insurance coverage solicitations to shoppers in that state.
The Minnesota Department of Commerce imposed the fine on Variable Advertising and marketing, a Texas LLC, which does company below the name Immediate Insurance coverage Marketing and advertising.
The commerce division stated Variable Advertising and marketing is not licensed to sell insurance coverage in the state, nor is the business registered to do organization in Minnesota.
Variable Marketing acts a “lead generator” using automatic dialing announcing devices (robo-calls) to connect customers with a contact center, which then connects the consumer to an insurance agent licensed in the consumer’s state, the division stated.
It is alleged that Variable Advertising robo-called 38,237 Minnesota residents in an try to sell insurance coverage.
Regulators also assert that in addition to engaging in unlicensed activity, the communications to Minnesota shoppers with regards to the insurance coverage policies have been false and misleading due to the fact the business represented themselves as acting on behalf of a government agency.
