Just days after the ordering guide for the upcoming 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was leaked, we are finding out how much it will cost to actually order the car: The Corvette Z06 will cost $ 78,995 in coupe form and $ 83,995 for the first Z06 convertible since the 1960s.

The Z06 will come in 3 flavors: the no-frills 1LZ; 2LZ, which adds some creature comforts such as heated and ventilated seats, a cargo net and cover, and Bose speakers; and the fancy 3LZ, which gains Chevy’s MyLink audio system with navigation, a performance data recorder, a leather-wrapped dashboard, and faux-suede upper interior trim. Significantly, all models will come standard with a head-up display featuring a rev counter and lateral-g meters, and the 1LZ and 2LZ models can be optioned with navigation and the performance data recorder, the latter of which we think is a must for track-day heroics.

All Z06 models will also come with GM’s magnetorheologic shocks, a 5-setting traction-management system, launch control, and an electronic limited-slip differential. For $ 2995 extra, a carbon-fiber ground-effects package adds a front splitter, rocker panels, and a sizable rear spoiler, all of which Chevy says contribute to greater aerodynamic downforce. Add $ 7995 more and the Z07 Performance package (yes, Z07 on the Z06—that’s not confusing at all) will build on the above with carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup rubber, and adjustable front and rear aero components for the carbon-fiber ground effects. Other options include competition-style sport seats upholstered in leather or faux suede, carbon-fiber interior trim (including carbon-fiber tonneau-cover inserts for convertible models), an exposed-carbon-fiber roof panel for coupes, numerous wheel finishes, and painted brake calipers.

GM did not provide the price of 2LZ and 3LZ equipment groups, but a Chevrolet spokesman said that a Z06 3LZ coupe with the Z07 package and all the boxes checked would come in just above $ 100K, which is, incidentally, cheaper than the Dodge Viper as well as the base 2013 Corvette ZR1, which started at $ 113,595 during its swan-song year.

We will whip up a full How We’d Spec It story in coming weeks, but for what it’s worth, the tracksters among us are already leaning toward the 1LZ coupe with the carbon-fiber ground-effects and Z07 Performance packages, which would ring up a total of $ 89,985, including destination. GM will start taking orders during the 4th quarter of this year, with deliveries commencing in January. We can hardly wait.
