Benoni Flying squad members arrested 2 suspects for truck hijacking in Bren2od Park, Benoni.
Police members were following up on information that led to one of the plots in Benoni where they arrested 2 suspects. It is alleged that a horse and trailer truck was hijacked on R550, Nigel Road on Sunday, 09 November 2014.
The horse of the truck was recovered in Heidelberg and the trailer was recovered yesterday with boxes of powder soap with an estimated street value of R3 million.
Police were searching the premises and they recovered 98 boxes of compressed tobacco at the back of the building with an estimated value of R19.6 million and a container full of new branded clothes and shoes and electrical appliances with a street value of R1 Million.
The estimation of all the goods recovered amounts to a street value of R23.6 million.
Investigations continue. Both suspects aged 54 and 32 will be appearing in the Benoni Magistrates’; Court soon facing charges of hijacking and possession of suspected stolen property.
